Approaching Ecstasy

  • Cornish Playhouse 201 Mercer Street Seattle, WA, 98119 United States (map)

Don't miss the anxiously-awaited return of the critically-acclaimed production, Approaching Ecstasy. This production features choreography from artistic director, Olivier Wevers in collaboration with Eric Banks and The Esoterics. It incorporates 40 singers, 5 instrumentalists, and 7 dancers and is inspired by the poems of Constantine Cavafy, who lived as a closeted gay man in Egypt at the end of the nineteenth-century. When it premiered in 2012, the Seattle Times said its visually sumptuous and City Arts Magazine found the combination of poetry, dance, and music a bold and successful choice.

"In the hands of artistic director and choreographer Olivier Wevers, Whim W'Him has evolved into one of Seattle's most successful and renowned companies since its establishment in 2009."  Seattle Dances
